For many countries of Europe February is one of the coldest months of the year. In cold winter months it is a good time to think about the energy efficiency of your home. It is well-known that heating a home is a great expense and can quickly eat into a monthly budget. So what does this have to do with replacement windows?

office furniture

Replacing windows play a big role in keeping warm air in a house and cold air out of your house in the winter time. The opposite is true in the hot summer months. If you really think about that, windows are essentially plugging big holes in the side of your house. In older homes with older windows this is potentially a huge area of energy loss. With older windows that might have broken seals or especially in pretty old houses that still have single pane glass, your warm air (and dollars) is easilly going right out of the window. Even homes that have dual pane windows that are 15 to 20 years old can still benefit from replacing windows due to advances in technology in the replacement window field.

single beds

Taking a close look at the following image, we highlight a couple of benefits of replacement windows.

chunky wood

This demonstrates two technologies that are used by some manufacturers in replacement windows, coating of the outer pane of glass and Argon gas. The coating on the glass is used to help reflect heat and cold, to keep each on the correct side of the window. Argon is used to fill the gap between the panes of glass as a way to slow down the transfer of heat. Along with advances in glass technology, come advances in frame technology.

So as you can see, replacement windows can make a difference to your home in cold winter months. Replacement windows can make your home more comfortable and warm. It can help to make your furnace run less. This leads to an increase in comfort and a decrease in utility bills.
